Timing and positioning are the most important factors when looking to sell your yacht. The key sales period for any yacht is when she is first brought to market. As such, our initial discussion requires discretion and a detailed, considered plan of action, together with an accurate valuation.
We will always put your yacht in front of our direct network as an attractive off-market proposition before expanding to a wider global audience of buyers and brokers. This gives the opportunity for a swift and efficient sale.
Combined with a unique, targeted and powerful marketing strategy, the correct price based on market intelligence, the right location, and above all, accounting for market demand, we ensure that every angle is covered to maximise value.

How it works
How long will it take to sell my yacht?
Some yachts can sell in a matter of weeks, others may take over a year. A lot of this will depend on factors such as the strength of the market, seasonality, and the pricing of your yacht.
As a broad guide, historical industry averages suggest a typical sales timeframe of 12-18 months.
What is the timeframe of exclusivity?
We will typically request a central agency agreement covering 12 months of exclusive representation.
This gives sufficient time to position the yacht properly, execute the agreed marketing strategy and engage the market effectively.
Why is exclusive representation important?
We invest significant time and resources into the marketing of your yacht, and the message needs to be unified and consistent.
One of the most damaging things for a sale is multiple brokers presenting conflicting information, differing narratives or inconsistent messaging around price and seller expectations.
Exclusive representation allows one central agent to control the positioning, marketing and flow of information, while still working with the wider brokerage community to reach potential buyers.
That creates a more professional presentation and gives the yacht the best chance of achieving the strongest possible result.
What are the costs involved in selling my yacht?
Standard yacht brokerage commission is typically 10% of the sale price, shared between the central agent and the broker introducing the buyer.
On higher-value yachts, a sliding scale may be agreed, with commission reducing on the portion of the sale price above certain thresholds.
There may also be marketing costs associated with professional photography, videography, advertising and, where appropriate, presenting the yacht at a boat show.
You should also expect legal fees for an independent maritime lawyer, and there may be tax implications depending on the yacht’s ownership structure, flag and the jurisdiction in which the sale takes place.
We will set out the likely costs clearly at the outset.
Can I sell my yacht if she already has charters booked in the future?
Yes.
If the buyer is happy to honour the existing charters, they can usually continue as planned.
If the buyer does not wish to perform them, the charterers will need to be refunded and cancellation provisions under the relevant charter agreements may apply.
We can advise on the cleanest way to structure the sale around any existing charter commitments.
How is my yacht valued?
Valuing a yacht requires more than looking at asking prices.
We consider recent achieved sale prices, comparable yachts currently on the market, age, pedigree, condition, specification, maintenance history, refit work, charter performance where relevant, and current levels of buyer demand.
Location and timing can also have a meaningful influence.
The objective is to arrive at a realistic market value that protects your position without undermining the strongest period of interest when the yacht first comes to market.
Should I sell my yacht privately or publicly?
There are advantages to both approaches.
A discreet off-market sale can be appropriate where privacy is a priority, or where we already know of credible buyers who may be a good fit.
A wider public launch gives the yacht greater exposure across the international brokerage market and can create stronger competitive tension where demand exists.
In most cases, we begin discreetly within our direct network before deciding whether and when to take the yacht to the wider market.
