THE EXPERIENCE

Culture & Discovery

Follow ancient trade routes through the Mediterranean, explore archaeological sites with expert guides, visit remote island communities, discover traditional crafts and cuisines, or gain access to cultural experiences, places and people that rarely feature on a conventional itinerary.

From the great civilisations of Greece, Italy and Turkey to the tribal cultures of Papua New Guinea and the remote settlements of the polar regions, some of the world’s most fascinating history and traditions are still very much alive.

Wellness

Start the day with yoga on deck, train with a personal coach, swim before breakfast, or spend the afternoon moving between the spa, sauna and treatment room.

Many yachts now offer fully equipped gyms, dedicated wellness spaces and specialist practitioners onboard, allowing everything from massage and physiotherapy to nutrition programmes, meditation and tailored fitness regimes to form part of the journey.

Whether the focus is performance, recovery or simply switching off, a charter can be shaped around the way you want to feel.

On the Water

Water skiing, wakeboarding, diving, fishing, paddleboarding, kayaking, jet skis, Seabobs, e-foils, jetboards and inflatables are just the starting point.

Many yachts carry an extraordinary range of equipment, from high-performance tenders and sailing dinghies to hydrofoils, climbing walls, slides and even submersibles. The result is a playground that can be as relaxed or as energetic as you want it to be.

Spend the morning learning something new, disappear beneath the surface for a dive, head out fishing at first light, or simply jump in.

Adventure

Trek through remote nature reserves, cycle volcanic landscapes, kayak beneath glaciers, dive untouched reefs, go heli-skiing in untracked mountains or explore islands that rarely see visitors.

For the more ambitious, a charter can become the starting point for true expedition travel, combining the yacht with helicopters, submersibles, specialist guides and equipment to reach places well beyond the conventional route.

Whether the goal is exploration, adrenaline or simply doing something few others have, the possibilities are limited more by imagination than geography.

Party Time

Privileged access to the world’s best beach clubs, restaurants and hotspots can be taken for granted.

Want to bring the party onboard? From live bands and world-renowned DJs to performers and full-scale production, we’ve had the pleasure of orchestrating some of the most extravagant private yacht events of the last decade.

Time to Switch Off

Some days are best left almost completely unplanned.

Sleep late, swim before lunch, read in the shade, drift between the pool and the sea, book a massage, or stream a movie under the stars.

With privacy, attentive service, generous space and the freedom to set your own pace, a yacht offers something increasingly rare: the ability to properly switch off.

Food, Glorious Food

Yacht chefs are amongst the most versatile in the business. Many have trained in Michelin-starred restaurants and operate at a level comparable with the very best kitchens in the world.

They are equally comfortable preparing fresh breakfasts and healthy smoothies, putting together a barbecue on a remote beach, or serving a multi-course tasting menu for dinner.

Menus can follow the destination, drawing on local markets, fishermen and producers, or be built entirely around your own preferences. Comfort food, children’s favourites, specialist diets and elaborate fine dining all sit comfortably side by side.

Few things compare to eating exceptionally well, exactly when and where you want.

Family and Friends

The rarest commodity of all is time, particularly with the people who matter most.

A yacht gives families and friends the chance to truly savour each other’s company. Long breakfasts, afternoons in the water, late dinners, children running between decks, conversations that stretch on because nobody needs to be anywhere else.

It is difficult to put a value on that kind of time, which is perhaps why so many of our clients return to it year after year.

Events

Celebrating something special? There is nothing our team and crews love more than helping give life’s milestones a fitting podium.

We have had the pleasure of hosting superyacht weddings, multigenerational birthday charters, private celebrations and corporate events onboard yachts of every scale. Whether setting the stage for two people or more than three hundred, every detail matters.

Perhaps you want the best position for the Formula 1 weekend, to host a party at a major film festival, or to follow — or even take part in — one of the world’s great yachting regattas.

Whatever the occasion, we have been delivering all of the above and more to exacting standards for decades.

WHAT DO PEOPLE SAY

How it works

How much does it cost to charter a yacht?

Arrow Icon

Yacht charter rates vary enormously depending on the size, age and pedigree of the yacht, the time of year and the destination.

As a broad guide, weekly charter rates can start from around €10,000–€15,000 for catamarans and smaller yachts, and rise to several hundred thousand euros for larger superyachts, with the very largest and most sought-after yachts commanding rates in excess of €1 million per week.

Use our charter search tool above to browse yachts and associated prices. Can’t find what you’re looking for? Get in touch — not all yachts are openly listed.

How far in advance should I book?

Arrow Icon

Some of the most established charter yachts take bookings a year or more in advance, so it is best to enquire as early as possible if you have a particular yacht or set of dates in mind.

Around six months ahead of the season, the majority of yachts will have opened their calendars, giving you the widest selection, particularly if you have some flexibility with dates.

Last-minute bookings are always possible and there can be good opportunities to be had. The available selection will, however, naturally be narrower.

How long can I rent a yacht for?

Arrow Icon

One week is the standard length of a yacht charter, although 10–14 days or longer is very common. Some guests charter a yacht for an entire season.

Shorter charters of a few days can also be possible, particularly outside peak season and subject to the yacht’s availability.

Where can I charter a yacht?

Arrow Icon

Almost anywhere with navigable water.

The Mediterranean remains the most popular summer charter destination, with Greece, Italy, France, Croatia and the Balearics amongst the perennial favourites. During the winter months, the Caribbean and Maldives attract much of the charter fleet.

Further afield, yachts cruise everywhere from Indonesia and French Polynesia to Patagonia, Norway, Greenland and Antarctica.

The best destination will depend on the time of year, the type of experience you are looking for and, in some cases, the capabilities of the yacht itself.

Visit our Destinations page for inspiration.

How many guests can be onboard?

Arrow Icon

Most charter yachts accommodate between 8 and 12 guests overnight, depending on their size, layout and certification.

A smaller number of larger yachts can accommodate significantly more, with some sleeping up to 30–36 guests.

For events held in port, yachts can often host many more people than they are permitted to accommodate overnight, with some larger yachts able to welcome well over 100 guests depending on their certification, layout and local regulations.

What is included in the Charter Rate?

Arrow Icon

The charter fee, quoted weekly in EUR or USD, covers:

  • Exclusive use of the yacht, together with its equipment and amenities.
  • Crew wages, uniforms and onboard meals.
  • Cleaning supplies, ship’s linen and general consumables used in the operation of the yacht.
  • Insurance for the yacht and crew.

Additional operating expenses, VAT and APA are charged separately.

What is APA? (Advance Provisioning Allowance)

Arrow Icon

The APA is an advance payment used to cover the operating expenses of your charter, including food and beverages, fuel, berthing and port fees, transfers, customs, permits, waste disposal, utilities, upgraded internet use and other incidental costs.

The captain manages these expenses on your behalf and retains all receipts. There are no mark-ups on the APA, and expenditure can be reviewed during the charter.

Any unused balance is returned to you at the end of the charter, while any additional expenditure is settled before disembarkation.

As a general guide, APA is typically estimated at around 20–30% of the charter fee for sailing yachts and 35–40% for motor yachts, depending on the yacht, itinerary and your preferences.

What is VAT? (Value Added Tax)

Arrow Icon

VAT is charged on yacht charters in many jurisdictions, with the applicable rate depending on where the charter takes place and the rules in force at the time.

Rates vary significantly between countries (e.g., currently as low as 5.2% in Greece and 20% in France) and can change, so we will confirm the applicable VAT for your chosen itinerary before booking.

Any changes to the applicable rate before the charter begins will be reflected in the final charter account.

Can we change the itinerary?

Arrow Icon

Yes. One of the great advantages of a yacht charter is the flexibility to change plans as you go.

Your itinerary can usually be adjusted during the charter, whether you want to stay somewhere longer, move on earlier or explore somewhere new.

Changes will always be subject to weather conditions, cruising distances, berth availability, local regulations and, ultimately, the captain’s judgement on safety.

What are embarkation times?

Arrow Icon

Standard embarkation and disembarkation times are typically from noon to noon.

Alternative timings can often be arranged, subject to the yacht’s availability and operational schedule.

What is a MYBA contract?

Arrow Icon

The MYBA Charter Agreement is the industry-standard contract widely used for yacht charters around the world.

Developed by MYBA, it sets out the rights and obligations of the yacht owner and charterer, together with the agreed charter dates, cruising area, payment terms, cancellation provisions and other important conditions of the charter.

Payment Terms

Arrow Icon

Typically, 50% of the charter fee is payable when the charter agreement is signed.

The remaining 50%, together with VAT and the APA, is normally due one month before embarkation.

Alternative payment terms may sometimes be agreed, particularly for very advanced or last-minute bookings.

Are there relocation fees?

Arrow Icon

If the yacht is required to reposition away from its home port to your chosen embarkation or disembarkation point, a relocation fee may apply.

The amount will depend on the distance involved and the associated fuel, crew and operational costs. If the yacht secures another charter nearby before or after your booking, the relocation fee may be reduced or removed altogether.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Arrow Icon

Cancellation terms are set out in the charter agreement and will depend on the circumstances and timing of the cancellation.

As significant sums may already have been committed by the time a charter is cancelled, we recommend taking out appropriate travel and cancellation insurance.

If your plans change, speak to us as early as possible and we will work through the available options with you.
